Stunt Scooter Compression
Understanding Scooter Compression
A stunt scooter's compression system serves as the crucial junction where the bar, fork, and deck unite. This system's main function is to firmly secure the scooter fork and bar together, ensuring the bar is properly fastened. By doing so, it reduces slack, prevents any unwanted movements, and allows the bars to rotate seamlessly.
Every stunt scooter requires a compression system, so when selecting one, it's vital to ensure compatibility with your forks and bars. The style of riding you aim to pursue, along with personal preferences, can influence this choice.
Here, you can explore stunt scooter compression kits, bolts, and conversion kits. For more visual illustrations and videos of the installation process, visit our guide - Buying Scooter Compression.
Various Stunt Scooter Compression Systems
HIC Scooter Compression
HIC - Hidden Integrated Compression. Known as the original scooter compression, it is celebrated for its reliability, lightweight design, and ease of maintenance. Installation requires either oversized bars (35 mm) or a scooter shim, with some HIC kits including a shim.
IHC Scooter Compression
IHC - Internal Hidden Compression, a slightly smaller and lighter variant of HIC compression. Unlike most stunt scooter compression systems, IHC is integrated within the fork itself, reducing the number of components to assemble. IHC systems suit aluminium bars with oversized clamps and standard steel bars (inner diameter 28 mm) with a shim and standard clamp.
SCS Scooter Compression
SCS - Standard Compression System, renowned for being the strongest compression available. This is because it utilises a four-bolt clamp and does not need a bar slit. If a bar has a slit, a bar adapter can be employed. Although the larger clamp adds some weight, its appealing design makes it a favourite among many riders.
ICS Scooter Compression
ICS - Inverted Compression System derives its name from the bolt positioning, which is vertical into the fork, tightening to a star nut within the bar. Compatible solely with standard-sized bars with a slit, the ICS system is extremely lightweight and suitable for both steel and aluminium bars.
