Klister Wax
The Stickiest Grip Comes from Klister Wax
Klister wax is a form of grip wax designed to offer additional traction on snowy surfaces. In conditions where the snow is particularly icy or excessively wet, ordinary grip wax struggles to adhere effectively; thus, klister ski wax can be layered over the existing wax to enhance traction. Various klister waxes are suitable for specific temperature ranges, so select one that matches the conditions in which you will be skiing.
What Is the Method for Applying Klister Wax?
Contained in a tube much like a toothpaste tube, begin with small dabs of wax placed along the kick zone, directly beneath the bindings on either side of the ski groove (about 1 cm apart). Spread the wax using a scraper, waxing iron, or your thumb to form a thin covering over the grip zone. Once it has been smoothed out, allow it to cool down, and you are set to venture onto the trails. Alternatively, klister spray wax is available, making the process considerably quicker and simpler.
Other waxes for classic cross-country skiing include glide wax, as well as tools like wax scrapers and brushes. To explore these products, visit Glide Wax for Cross Country Skis and Cross Country Ski Tools & Ski Maintenance Equipment.
