BMX Tubes
Changing Your BMX Tubes
BMX tubes are located inside the tyres and are the part of the wheel responsible for holding air. They are crafted from various types of robust rubber and are fitted with either a Presta or Schrader valve for inflation.
Given the demanding nature of BMX riding, inner tubes will eventually need replacement. Regardless of whether you're into freestyle or racing, it's evident that the tyres endure significant impacts and consistent pressure, which inevitably results in minor or major punctures. While small punctures can be repaired using a patch kit, should your BMX inner tube consistently lose air pressure, it's time to purchase a new one. For tips on correctly installing your inner tube, please watch our concise video on How to Install BMX Tyres and Inner Tubes.
Which Size BMX Tube Is Required?
In simple terms, your BMX tube size must match your BMX tyre size, considering both diameter and width. The most prevalent tyre diameter is 20 inches, so a 20 inch BMX tube would be a suitable choice. The inner tube width is often expressed as a range, such as 1.70 - 2.5 inches. Your tyre width should fall within this range, although a slight deviation in width will still be compatible.
When exchanging your BMX tubes, it’s advisable to inspect your tyre’s condition. Over time, tyres may lose grip or become prone to punctures. If you're considering acquiring new tyres, please explore our collection at BMX Tyres.
