Longboards Risers & Longboard Shock Pads
The Purpose of Longboard Risers
Longboard riser pads, or risers, consist of small pieces of plastic that are placed between the longboard deck and truck. By increasing the deck's height, they help to avoid wheelbite.
Riser pads come in two variations: a flat, rectangular design or an angled, wedge style. The flat risers are the conventional type and can be found in various thicknesses. In contrast, angled risers not only increase the deck height but also modify the kingpin angle and pivot point, which enhances the board's turning capability at the front.
Are Shock Pads Necessary for a Longboard?
While shock pads for longboards also elevate the deck, they primarily aim to reduce vibrations for a smoother ride. This added protection is especially beneficial when riding on rough surfaces, as it helps preserve your deck.
Bear in mind that opting for either riser or shock pads means ensuring your bolts are sufficiently long to accommodate the new arrangement. For guidance, refer to our Bolts & Riser Pads Guide. Should you require additional hardware, please visit our Nuts & Bolts for Longboards page.
