Roller Hockey Wheels
Which Roller Hockey Wheels Are Right for Me?
It may be straightforward, but when selecting new inline hockey wheels, ensure they match the size of your existing ones. Roller hockey frames frequently feature a unique setup where each wheel on your skate may differ in size.
To prevent confusion, many frames specify the ideal wheel size. For instance, with a hi-lo wheel configuration, it may be presented as: 80-80-76-76. These figures denote the wheel diameter in millimetres. In this setup, your two rear wheels should be 80mm and the front ones 76mm. Generally, the largest wheels are positioned at the back of the frame.
Choosing Between Indoor and Outdoor Roller Hockey Wheels
You will maximise your roller hockey experience by opting for wheels tailored specifically for indoor or outdoor use. Indoor hockey skate wheels are softer, typically with a durometer (wheel hardness) ranging from 72A to 76A, to ensure superior grip on smooth indoor floors. Outdoor hockey wheels generally have a durometer of 80A and above, to withstand hard, concrete terrains.
Is it possible to use the same wheels for both? In principle, yes. Multisurface wheels can serve indoors and outdoors and usually have a durometer of 78A or 80A. Nonetheless, players engaging in hockey both outdoors and indoors usually prefer having separate wheel sets for each.
With hockey wheel sets, they often come without bearings and spacers, so ensure optimal performance by selecting from our Roller Hockey Bearings.
