Ski Goggle Lenses
Ski Goggle Lens for All Weather Situations
While skiing, you might find yourself racing down the slopes under a clear sky with bright sunshine. At times, you could also be skiing in overcast conditions as the sun prepares to set. These different scenarios present varying lighting conditions, making it impossible to find a ski goggle lens that suits all types of lighting.
Finding a ski goggle with a lens that accommodates all weather situations can be challenging. Therefore, it is advisable to invest in an additional lens to ensure you have the best skiing experience regardless of whether the day is cloudy or sunny. Before purchasing an extra lens, ensure that your ski goggles have the capability to interchange lenses; otherwise, your investment will be in vain.
There are numerous tones and colours available for ski goggle lenses. While the appearance and style are considerations, the most critical aspect is their performance under the specific conditions you will be skiing in.
Select the Appropriate VLT for Your Ski Lenses
A key element to consider is the desired amount of light transmission through your lenses. The VLT (Visible Light Transmission) is the measure used to indicate this, ranging from 0 to 100 per cent. This scale determines the percentage of outdoor light that reaches your eyes.
For skiing in bright daylight, aim for lenses with a VLT between 5 and 20 per cent. Conversely, lenses featuring 60–90 VLT are ideal for cloudy days, snowfall, dawn, and when relying on artificial lighting on the slopes during evenings.
Many prefer a lens that can adapt to most conditions. If this applies to you, consider lenses with a VLT ranging from 30 to 60 per cent.
