Selecting the correct size for skateboard hardware is crucial. It needs to pass through the deck and the truck baseplate, protruding sufficiently to attach the locknut to the bolt. Overly long hardware can be challenging to tighten and may cause obstructions when grinding. Conversely, hardware that is too short may detach easily. Typically, the standard skateboard bolt length ranges from ⅞ of an inch to 1 inch for usual skate setups. Nonetheless, if employing riser pads above ⅛ of an inch, you might require longer hardware.

Is Skateboard Hardware Standardised?

Various brands produce skateboard nuts and bolts, which are generally compatible with any skateboard. Most hardware is designed in either Phillips head or Allen-head style, but this does not affect your skating, leaving the choice to personal preference.
