Waveboards / Caster Boards
Waveboards Designed for Urban Surfing
A waveboard, which you may also know as a caster board, wave skate, or vigour board, is created specifically for extraordinary street surfing adventures. This is what gives them a unique shape and specifications distinguishing them from other boards like skateboards and longboards.
Waveboards offer an enjoyable, surf-like riding sensation that makes them prominent within the skateboard community. With a waveboard, you can cruise, carve, or even perform tricks.
The Distinctive Features of Waveboards
One highly noticeable feature of caster boards is their deck, as they do not feature a single unified deck. A waveboard instead possesses two slender deck plates joined by a torsion bar. This torsion bar, typically constructed from steel, plays a vital role in driving the waveboard's motion.
In contrast to other boards, waveboards feature only two wheels — one located at the front and the other at the back. These wheels are capable of full 360° rotation because they are mounted on casters instead of trucks. Additionally, waveboard wheels generally measure 76-78 mm in diameter and are softer than those found on skateboards. With just two wheels on each caster board, the wheels can wear out rather quickly, especially if they fall on the softer side.
Is a Caster Board Right for You?
Individuals across various age groups can enjoy a wave skate, as it offers a novel riding experience. However, your sense of balance and level of agility may influence how quickly you become adept at riding a waveboard. For those already familiar with riding a skateboard or longboard, mastering the waveboard might be simpler.
You should be able to effortlessly position your feet on the two deck plates. Riding a waveboard that suits your size is crucial, as balance alone is inadequate. It is also essential to verify the weight limits specified for individual boards, as these can vary among models.
