BMX Seating Gear for your Bike
Within our BMX seating section, you'll encounter an array of BMX seats, seat posts, and seat clamps. It's crucial to ensure these parts are compatible with one another. For example, a pivotal seat mandates a corresponding pivotal seat post to function correctly.
How is a BMX Seat Affixed?
BMX seats are available with five distinct mounting systems: pivotal, combo, rail, tripod, and stealth. Each type requires a different attachment method to the seat posts. Nevertheless, the process of installing the seat post onto the frame is largely standardised.
Certain frames are equipped with an integrated seat clamp atop the seat tube. Should your frame lack one, securing the seat post to your frame necessitates a clamp: use a hex key to loosen the clamp, slide it onto the seat tube, insert the seat post into the frame, and then tighten the clamp to lock the seat at your preferred height. Race BMX bikes often feature a "quick-release" seat clamp enabling seat height adjustments without tools.
Selecting the appropriate seat post requires measuring the inner diameter of your frame's seat tube—the standard measure being 25.4 mm, but it's always sensible to confirm. Once you ascertain this diameter, ensure your seat post matches it. If both the seat post and frame are constructed of aluminium or steel, lightly lubricate the seat post to prevent oxidation or binding from friction.
