Purchasing a Scooter Deck
The scooter deck is the platform you stand on while riding.
Swapping the deck on a scooter resembles replacing the frame on a bicycle; you must swap all components and ensure compatibility with the new deck. Therefore, check your fork, headset, peg, and wheel prior to upgrading.
The diagram below illustrates the components of a deck:
Most decks are manufactured from aluminium. Brakes and axles are typically included unless mentioned otherwise.
Guidance for Purchasing Decks:
- Lightweight decks have a shorter lifespan compared to heavier ones but facilitate performing tricks.
- Heavier decks are more durable but rotate more slowly in tricks.
- Ensure tricks land evenly on the deck to prolong its lifespan.
- Not all pegs are compatible with all decks due to varying designs of decks and pegs.
- Forks vary in length; a fork that is too short may not extend into an SCS, ICS, or HIC system.
- The angle of the headtube affects the inclination of the bar towards the rider.
- Griptape may be replaced as frequently as desired; ensure to clean the deck beforehand.
- Integrated headtubes are only compatible with integrated headsets.
