Which Ski Boot Flex is Right for Me?
The flex of a ski boot indicates the level of resistance you will experience when leaning and pushing forwards with slightly bent knees in a well-fitting alpine boot.
This means the flex pertains to the boot's flexibility in the forward movement. Typically, the most popular alpine ski boots have a flex around these figures: Men 80-130 and Women 65-110.
Bear in mind, these figures are simply guidelines and may not suit every skier due to specific preferences, skill levels, or body weight. The advised flex range spans approximately 10-25 units.
If you aim to advance with these boots, opt for a higher flex number within or above the suggested range. A novice should consider selecting a lower range flex or perhaps even under the advised figure.
This guide does not account for the fact that flex ratings are not standardised and can differ among brands. Additionally, temperature changes can influence how a ski boot's flex feels.
Below is a guide chart to help you select the flex that suits you best.
