Guide to Building a Custom Skateboard
For those desiring a personalised setup that features all the correct elements, a custom skateboard is the ideal choice. In this concise video tutorial, Jonas demonstrates how to quickly put together a complete skateboard.
- Begin by peeling off the non-adhesive section of the foil
- Next, apply the griptape to the deck, starting from one end and progressing upwards
- Use an Allen key or a screwdriver to scratch the griptape
- Employ a box knife to trim away the excess griptape, ensuring you cut from below at approximately a 45° angle
- Sand the edges with the rough side of the leftover griptape
- Create holes in the griptape for the bolts by using the Allen key or a screwdriver
- Insert the bolts into the prepared holes
- Affix the trucks onto the four bolts
- Screw on the locking nuts and tighten them following a cross-diagonal pattern
- Replicate the process for the remaining truck
- Utilise the truck axle for fitting the wheel bearings
- Ensure the speed rings are positioned on both the top and bottom
- Tighten the locking nut, verifying that the wheel spins without obstruction
- Replicate the procedure for the remaining wheels
